The University of Alabama (UA) is a public research university in Tuscaloosa. Established in 1820, UA is the oldest and largest of the public universities in Alabama. As one of the first public universities established in the early 19th century southwestern frontier of the United States, UA has left a cultural imprint on the state, region, and nation over the past two centuries. Being in existence for as long as this university undoubtedly lends to buildings and their facilities needing repair. One such area was the multi-colored concrete paver plaza outside of the Ferguson Student Center. Originally supported by pieces of other pavers, the plaza was unstable, uneven, and dangerous to patrons. The Bison Pedestal System was just the answer! In 2007, the university replaced the supports with Bison ScrewJack Pedestals ensuring a level, stable, and durable plaza for years to come, giving students and staff a place to grab coffee or a meal and a space to hang out and relax with friends, making it a very popular area of campus.
