Project Description

The city of Cedar Rapids, had been hoping to make sidewalks along its popular 3rd street livelier, but narrow sidewalks and not enough space had posed a problem in the past. Bison Pop-Up Parks were just the solution. The removable platforms, using Bison Pedestals, Planters, and Wood Tiles, measuring 20 feet by eight feet, fit inside a parallel parking spot.

Each Pop-Up Park has six planters spaced around the platform with cable rail fencing around the perimeter to separate pedestrians from traffic. The removable platforms can be easily assembled during warm summer months when outdoor dining and activities are at their peak and disassembled in the winter and stored. The modular deck system has low installation and maintenance costs and increases visibility of local business creating interest and space for patrons to enjoy.
